Thai Yoga is a whole body/mind healing session used to treat a number of ailments by releasing blockages and restoring the flow of energy throughout the body.
Thai Yoga is done on a comfortable mat on the floor with the receiver fully clothed. It is best to wear comfortable clothing that will allow your legs and arms to be moved easily without any binding or restrictions.
You get to completely relax and be cared for. The goal is work with just the right amount of pressure allowing the body to let go while being completely supported. Energy work is an important component of Thai Yoga. The quality of the treatment comes from the carefully tuned intuitive skills of the practitioner, as well as the attitude of working with an “open heart” and compassion, or metta (loving kindness).
The sessions are customized to meet the individual needs and body condition of the client. The practitioner moves along energy meridians know as the “Sen” using his or her thumbs, palms, elbows, knees and feet to apply a combination of acupressure, gentle rocking and twisting, joint and spine mobilizations and assisted yoga basic stretches. With the Yoga teacher using body weight instead of strength and a steady and meditative rhythm, Thai Yoga looks and feels like a graceful dance between giver and receiver.
This results in a comprehensive full body treatment that relieves muscular tension (both deep and superficial), improves circulation, boosts the immune system, balances the body energetically and creates a sense of deep inner peace.
Traditional Thai Yoga is effective in preventing and/or correcting stiffness, chronic back, neck and shoulder pain, hip pain, sciatica and mobility problems. It can be helpful to those who suffer from fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis and Multiple Sclerosis. It targets muscles and joints that we rarely think about as being stressed, including the buttocks (gluteus maximus), the piriformis muscle (which can irritate the sciatic nerve), tight psoas (the large muscle that links the lumbar spine to the legs), and the sacroiliac joints.
I just wanted you to know how much better my body feels. I have only had a few twinges from the hamstring and was even able to take a short hike today. The external oblique seems to have been released from the Thai Yoga and it aches
just a little but not all the time – way better. Your Thai Yoga sessions work miracles.
Thanks again for the Thai Yoga session the other day! I arrived feeling tired and stiff from work but afterward my energy seemed to boost. I felt energized the rest of my day. I liked the interactive nature of the Thai Yoga session also. It seemed to me you really listened and responded to my needs. I’ll definitely get another session from you when I can. ~ Laura
Still feeling good. You definitely have some healing hands!!! My shoulder feels much better. ~ Ruth
